I'm an active trader, and I use mental stops. I very seldom use trailing stops. It seems the information is often used against my position. But, I do believe in setting limits. And, from my experiences, I usually get punished if I do not adhere to limits. For volatile stocks, I generally use wide spreads, and I raise the mental stops as the price moves higher; thus, preserving profits.
I would never hold management accountable for my trading profits or losses. That is all on me. I own that.
