Could be. Many times fake bids and ask prices appear on L2 for many tickers only to see them disappear as quickly as they show up.

That risky because i could do a market bid for 500k shares and drive the price up and take the shares cheap..

I don't understand why someone would want to tease shares they don't really want to sell...
