You are spot on about getting the right people in place. Anyone who has read the Jim Collins book - Good to Great - understands the mantra. For those who are unfamiliar with Collins, he studied 1435 companies performance over years. He said the CEO is the bus driver and the bus is the company. What the CEO must do is to decide where you are going, how you will get there and, most importantly, who needs to be on the bus to accomplish it all. Ergo, the right people! One of the more interesting aspects, for Collins, was the discovery that it was not the rock star CEOs who helped the transition from good to great. It was the people with vision and willingness, who are able to see the value in the company and get the right people in place to work and bring it out. Kind of sounds like what Nasrat Hakim has done with Elite, does it not?
