Dow had the patent in 1967 it expired they decided they would rather poison people than go to the trouble of spending 25 mil to develop a better safer product. It was cheaper and more profitable to manufacture isocyanates a chemical that no doubt has been responsible for millions of health problems and who knows how many complications that have resulted in fatalities. They are probably worried now that after they have almost paid off all the claims for the agent orange and dioxin lawsuits that a whole new can of whoop ass may be opened up IMHO.
