According to Melvin Watt, Director of FHFA, both GSEs are headed towards a rundown of capital by DEC. 2017 that will result in Treasury draws and an almost certain liquidation in JAN, 2018. Timothy Mayopoulos, Fannie Mae's CEO, said almost exactly the same thing in his DEC 2015 conference call.
