It isnt a scam really.
Its just a matter of hitting the easy button.

Scott could have used the millions and gone full blown start up. Then beg for years to raise $100m or so. Then work 18 hour days for 5 years or so to build the mine while begging for more money. And in 10 or 20 years he could be profitable and make a few million.

Or

Say he is going to do those things and put in as many hours as you want into a bill to yourself and make a few million in a year or two and go vacationing.

At Scotts age he doesnt have 20 years to wait to make his money.
