Um I think your missing the point of concept, their first goal is autofocus as far as know, no communication with an outside device is necessary (I think not anyway). Second how do you know those are RF traces, as far as I'm concerned it's simply proof of circuit that in itself being in a silicon hydroxyl lens is an achievement. Neither one of us know exactly what the intended purpose of those traces are for but I'm inclined to think they might be needs to flex the lens and not for radio communication. If they are probe pads then good for testing circuit, probably it works, if those pads have piezoelectric devices under them then they can possibly sense the eye movement and react to flex the lens. Let's wait and see, but what your requesting is probably years away and minimizing these biomedical and biotech steps along the way to an AR lens is not seeing the big picture. Before someone could invent the car someone had to invent the wheel first.

The picture is showing rf trace lines and probe pads.

The rf tracelines are the elastic circuit. They put the contact lens in that same test machine the matress industry uses to test for the number of thrusting cycles a matress can safely handle.
Did you look at the pictures for the elastic circuit patent application?
