I don't think it was an offensive statement on her part; it was absolutely beyond stupid based on her career....
If I hadn't married a Brazilian (or foreigner) and learned the language I too may have asked that same dumb question at some point....but I'm also not a college language professor who has articles published for millions to read. I true wonder how such stupidity is allowed to have a voice that vast?!?!?
Anybody with a language background at that level should absolutely not be so ignorant to ask such a question....it's before language 101, but obviously there is at least one, my dumb aunt!
(I don't know....maybe if I become a great trader:investor one day someone will ask: how did I become such a wizard of the markets, yet have no education to back it up??)
Your comment regarding French and Spanish is accurate to a degree...I've had many people tell me the know it's not one, but it also doesn't sound like the other either....so they ask; what is it???
I don't get the comment it's the ugliest language you ever heard; that is a bit offensive, but to each their own....I really don't like central and South American Spanish; i think Spain Spanish is much nicer, but based on where I live it makes sense that Latino Spanish would get annoying....and I'm probably biased because I married a brasilian and can speak the language.
