Somewhere today I read a post of Arch's (gcbr) that the man who is behind the CMIH which made a rather tenuous agreement with DNAP has learned that the shell he thought to be clean was not.
What you have uncovered with your dd seems to bear that out.
If all the pieces went together with respect to collection of samples, snp designation by DNAP, and resultant new treatment received well, the "crook" in the old shell may still need to be dealt with.
