They need to do a deal for money, even if it is a bad one. Merge with a cash strong middle biotech w/o strong science. I am not sure any BP will give them any cash deal. And not because they don't believe their science. They do not want their science on market at all. So do a merger with a smaller company looking for science.
They do not have to spend a lot on R&D til they find the merger partner.
