Personally I'm not the most comfortable will all computerized voting. I think the simple solution is to mandate that a simple dot matrix printer be attached to each voting machine and every time a vote is cast, a little slip with the votes comes up and the voter stuffs it in the ballot box on the way out, that way if there ever was any fear of foul play they could be checked.
That being said, there is no conclusive proof that there has been manipulation and I think that trying to make a scandal out of it is a very dangerous strategy. When you raise such an argument it makes you sound paranoid and you give your opponent the ability to lampoon you on the issue. A far better strategy would be to drop thoughts of a deep "black helicopters" conspiracy and instead push for a paper trail on grounds of security, hackers, and the risk of malfunction. I've read the conservative blogs and there are plenty of conservatives that support a paper trail, don't make it a Democrat vs. Republican issue and there's a good chance that a paper trail can be achieved.
