Bullseye NM !!!!!!!!! This could be as simple as final testing and procurement. No mention of PPG looks like the PPG product didn't cut it or they have modified it and the project got extended. The siloxane based products from PPG they were testing didn't cut it for 2 reasons IMO..Isocyanate and HAP content Siloxanes require the use of HAPS (solvents such as xylene and MEK to thin the material.)
This may lead to a huge Gov't contract. Very nice find and very promising IMHO.
This project will develop an ultra-low VOC and non-HAP rain erosion coating based on a unique hybrid resin chemistry that has been demonstrated via previous projects to offer epoxy-type rapid reactivity and good adhesion combined with excellent erosion, flexibility, weathering, and chemical resistance typical of polyurethane systems. The coating will contain little to no VOC content and be non-HAPs via the use of exempt solvent technologies that are compatible with the coating chemistry. Additionally, the excellent performance of the coating chemistry is achievable without the use of free isocyanates, thereby offering improvements in terms of applicator occupational safety.
