Well, if you're going to compare the two, skin rash is less adverse than a blocked artery which is more adverse and more important for the patient well being. Your example is perfect for my side of the story. Here you have both adverse effects of the drug, one important(blocked artery) and the other prevalent(skin rash). The article mentioned the more important side effect(blocked artery) and did not mention the more prevalent side effect(skin rash). So, the article is construed to be right too.

Rash? Vascular Occlusion? Fatal myocardial infarction, stroke, liver failure, heart failure? Any other, 'important' AEs?

All might be totally unrelated to taking Ariad's drug Ponatinib. But still very much related to simply owning Ariad stock.

Though to your point glass, opinions on a wider label for Ponatinib might be better tempered by the reading of what Ariad actually says on its website and Iclusig label warning, not what other articles summarize here and there.

http://www.ariad.com/iclusig/about-iclusig/

Folks should read the first 3 bullets under the "IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION, INCLUDING THE BOXED WARNING". Key word "IMPORTANT".

These rates are not for garden variety AEs, like a rash. 27%. 8%, etc.

Details, details.
