Hopefully the SEC will identify and corral the three rats. Although, I doubt there is much treasure left. This scam didn't involve the kind of money that some desert dirt scams have. Joel is a small-time crook, although the folks that he stole money from probably don't see it that way.
There is another desert dirt scam in Arizona that has generated roughly $45 million in nearly a decade. And it's an SEC-filer, keeps up with filings, pays their corporate fees, etc. They are pros......and know how to stay under the radar. Still active, and have never produced an ounce of gold.
