Chemical detection methods have come along way. I would say that you should not underestimate the potential for a chemical tag molecule to be used, in conjunction with spectroscopic detection methods.

A tag molecule with near perfect affinity for the active component of THC will bind to THC when the breath moves through the device, it creates either light or radiation and that is picked up by the detector. There is nothing crude about that methodology.

Also, it is mass spectrometry* not mass spectroscopy.

And the aforementioned use of a tag molecule, could rely on mass spectrometry as well, it is not unique to the Yost lab.

My point is that, Hound Labs is a viable competitor not to be discredited.

Can they do it at atmospheric pressure though...
