XRay...I think you're reading Docks' comment the wrong way. An 8% QD solar cell efficiency rating is where the science is at now....the 65% eff rating is a theoretical maximum , which may never be achieved. From what I've read over the years , an 8% eff rating can be of limited use in certain applications , but the when it gets up into the 15 to 25% range , that's when it becomes viable for solar & competitive with exist silicon tech.

He said "QTMM'S magic efficiency number in dealing with solar cells is 8% with the theoretical top around 65% which should be attainable in 3 to 5 years."

So, is it 8% in 3-5- years, or 65% in 3-5 years? The answer would make a big difference
