The very quote you site states the shares were sold.

Ed himself said that the 900 million shares were sold into the float. Those shares cannot be cancelled.

As shown in the Form 10. The amount of shares still held is around 280 million and those shares have a chance at being cancelled.

I believe Ed talked about this in one of the conference calls or on Facebook at some point.
