Three men apparently accessed a barricaded area to mine for gold illegally; one of them managed to escape and alerted the company.

Sibanye Gold spokesperson James Wellsted says, “He’s still in a critical condition because obviously there was a lot of trauma. They’re contractors employed by Cooke so they’re not directly employed by us.”
