I think the stress of being a failure is starting to get to Eric. Only a desperate person or someone under some type of influence would lie and act like Eric does. Especially when he gets caught in his lies time after time. He had dreams of this someday being a huge Billion dollar company and after 10 years it's nothing more than a hobby he does from his van.
