That is a great question and I have an answer. They had to get the larger reactor in Star Park to show people like Nitto and the GTG group and "others" that they could actually scale QDX delivery to exact specifications and able to "Mass Produce" Cadmium and Cad Free dots which by the looks of things they have been successful especially with this weeks news. There are also more than likely provisions in entering the Chinese market for an American company such as what has been demonstrated in this PR that there needs to be ties with invesment and investors to penetrate this market and a reactor onsight. Ironically if I may say so NONE OF THE OTHER BIG 3 we're talking Nanosys QDV Nanoco have done this. QTMM actually may now be the BIG WINNER in the QD race....Hmmmmmm :))
IMO, San Marcos has been bait on a hook (and it has successfully caught a fish).
The ultra low cost, low resource structure was never going to be a sustainable way to compete on a world scale. It was a demonstration. The China entity (JV) will be a more realistic and competitive approach to being a leading market participant.
