Nice post and one thing I know is that in this industry it is very common.. Brands are bought and sold between these companies all the time.. Made and mfg. by someone else..Household brands are developed and marketed in many ways ...a couple of recent examples are Ralph Lauren sold in Home Depot and Martha Stewart lines sold in Walmart (first in Kmart I believe) both of those were mfg. by Sherwin Williams.. Using the same business model here ..employing toll manufacturing agreements with NDA's eventually people who care find out who actually makes the product but I guarantee you the general public never knows.... the main idea is to separate the BRAND and build it as a separate entity ..exclusive to one company and the marketplace..Both brands I mentioned here became very big brands at the time and had their own market niche. They are still being sold today. The paint business is an ever changing market as tastes and trends change over a relatively short periods of time. ONE THING NEVER CHANGES NEWER SAFER BETTER CHEAPER ALWAYS WINS.
