Maybe sp wristed instruments are not flexible enough to handle the challenges single port presents. Maybe hernias were an issue. Who knows?

The ISRG rep here who is heavily invested in Titan said the reason for delay in single port was the knowledge of cheaper competition. They are trying to figure out how to lower the cost of offering single incision knowing that soon it will be outpriced. I am suspect however. As far as ip goes I think Titan has the upper hand. The SPORT arms are meant for single incision where the Da Vinci just added an articulation to go through a single port. SPORT has the new technology in the snake arm robotic. Better angles of manipulation and cheaper. ISRG wouldn't want to launch a very expensive offering only to be shut down. At current price specs the ISRG single sight "add on" will cost more for the hospital than just buying a free standing SPORT system. The hospital could have two rooms running robotics.
ISRG just came out with 4th quarter financials and they are flying high. Good things in general for MIS!!! We should be looking good after the next six months financing is defined. GLTA
