kehemara, I'm in the widerness as to the significance of Smith's lead paragraph, but the site linked below has very different numbers. I think it stays pretty much up to date, and at about 2:10 Eastern it showed a daily volume of 10,700 contracts and an open interest of 27,171. I cannot vouch for its timeliness.
