i guess however you were %50 correct because there is such a thing as colombian spanish .. thats what i am having to learn now (i am working down here) .. they are know for how good (accent) their spoken spanish is so it makes it easy to understand (in most cases). you do have your paisa's, which is the knick name of the locals here in antioquia colombia (fyi - medellin is in antioquia, the mgmx colombian office is in medellin) and they definitly have a distinct accent and are very friendly people (it takes 5 minutes to start a conversation because of the small talk .. how are you, how have you been, whats up, its nice to talk to you, what have you been doing, etc.), then the real conversation starts (and this could be someone you never met before). some good people, serious about business and hard working. however they do not lack in holidays around here .. seems like one every other week :)
