I disagree. Having exhibited at Oracle OpenWorld in the past for a software company I used to work for - the conferences were always about lead generation. The market exposure is well worth it if there is solid followup. The contacts and business gained by direct involvement in the conferences was well worth the effort. It allows you to gain excellent exposure; albeit sometimes the larger conferences aren't as fruitful as those more closely aligned with your particular niche market. Plus, the parties are fun. The only thing I can agree with you on is that I expect the GSA contract to be the most significant catalyst for anything in 2016 and this conference, as you said, will have little to do with that initiative, imo.
