Let's be frank.

You wrote:"So from an investing perspective I guess I did learn that I'll never invest again." Time cures all pains. You will be investing again very soon, and some of your future investments will go as bad as ANV. There is no questions in my mind about it.

You wrote: "I for one investor am not an unintelligent man, yet I had no idea at all that a company could get away with..". You are not being honest with yourself and others. Not only a company can get away with it, but also any sovereign government! Any one of my investments could go bankrupt or a price of commodity like Gold or OIL can suddenly collapse below its production cost. There could be a meteor or terrorist attach that can wipe any single company from the face of the Earth. If you are not willing to accept this possibility, you have no place investing in individual equities. You should only buy Mutual Funds or ETFs. Based on how surprised you sound, you should consider investing only in Government treasuries. On another hand, USA government could also go bankrupt! Stop acting very surprised that it happened! You and I knew the risks from the beginning! You and I were gambling - higher risk investments have possibility of higher returns.

You wrote: "Though it wouldn't have taken me 4 bankruptcies to figure that out! " Smarty-pants! As long as majority of my investments continue making profit, I accept possibility of losing money on some investments. Do you seriously expect to make profit on all your investments? How long ago have you started trading?

You wrote: "You lost money 4 X yet you post investment advice about others should react when it happens to them?". Yes, I have the experience and I would like to share it with others. One of those investments was OCZ(SSD controller manufacturer) which declared bankruptcy. They eliminated the existing shareholders, and after that, Toshiba purchased the rest of the company for pennies on a dollar. None of the shareholders got any penny back. I lost a small investment with General Motors. Who could have imagine that a company that has tens or hundreds of billions in assets could go bankrupt. Government got involved and they gave everything to Labor Union. Reports say the bailout of GM and Chrysler was illegal and may have broken the constitution. Does it matter? It is water under the bridge!
