ENI finds oil offshore Congo
21-11-01 ENI-Agip has made an oil find in its deepwater Awa Marine-1 field offshore Congo. The well encountered an oil column of 170 mm (557.6 ft), and during a production test flowed at 3,800 bpd of oil.
In the near future, a second well will be drilled to enable a more in- depth evaluation of the discovery. The field production will be transported through the infrastructures already existing at the Djeno terminal, near the new field. At water depths of about 2,700 mm (8,850 ft) the operation was performed using Saipem's semisubmersible rig Scarabeo 3 and completed in 30 days.
ENI has been operating in these waters since the 1960's, and the discovery is in a mature exploration area. ENI's production in Congo is about 75,000 bpd of oil, mainly from the Kitina, Foukanda, MWafi, Loango and Zatchi fields, all operated by ENI.
Partners are: Agip Congo with 72 %, and Sasol and Societe Nationale des Petroles du Congo with the remaining interests.
