My recommendation has always been to own the actual metal if you can store it safely. But, part of storing it safely means extreme confidentiality. You shouldn't tell anyone you have it IMO.

Also, I like pre 1965 bags of "junk" silver. They are easy to buy and sell. Furthermore, should it ever matter, they are easy to barter with.

A "bag" is actually two bags of dimes, nickles and quarters from before 1965 when the silver content was 90%.

I own no silver stocks.
