While I cannot say that the technique works, the topic has come up here before. There is no need to have them up for so little as double the current price, as that could happen easily on the right news release. I have mine set at $200 per share for instance as that was the max my broker allowed. I would be mad if CTIX stock price shot past that and my shares sold because I forgot the order is there but, I would get over it. :-)

I imagine being a multi millionaire would make one more forgiving.

You should put a good till cancel sell order in to keep the shares from being hypothecated and available for short sale. You should not put the sell order in at double the current share price as you're almost certain to lose them. Think 20 times current price to be on the safe side.
