Having a steady hand in charge freaks republicans out. they only understand fear, fearmongering, and the threatening of any country, religion, or anyone outside their circle jerk. calming the people with reason is beyond their concept and brand. They prefer a steady diet of fear, specially color-coded for the dimmest of them. What is the color of the terror threat today? they need colors as they tend to view the world in black and white and need someone like George Bush to fill them in on what to think and be afraid of.
The ultimate irony would be if obama wins yet another Nobel Peace Prize for the iran and general non-obliteration policy of think first, use the military second... which pains conservatives to no end.
