Good article on CMCs...

Not sure those drawbacks haven't already been addressed to the satisfaction of GE... they were showing off a CMC LPT blade at the Paris airshow...

My take after reading the article is not if but when CMCs take over the LPT blades in all GE jet engines...

They kept comparing it to Nickel alloys and not AlTi... but they did say they are withstand higher temps than AlTi...

How many machines would you want to buy if you knew this other technology was coming in the next few years...

I would not be surprised to see Avio just contract with DiSanto for production of the blades... if that happens you will know where this is headed...
