Ya,

Houndish, Saw this a couple of days ago and didn't know what to make of it! Sounds at though one would have to mine it rather than drill and let the pressure flow it. I see it as a logistical nightmare to mine onder the Rockies. I was sort of waitinf for another more "credible source" to yak about if before looking further.

They are most likely referring to "oil shale". Previous efforts produced a boom and bust in western Colorado. Not a very good looking investment IMO.

There is lots of natural gas in western Colorado. Lots of drilling going on and planned. Pipelines exist now in many places to transport the natural gas to markets outside of Colorado, California for example. California uses lots of natural gas for generating electricity.
