Intel manufactured their 2005 chipsets on 130nm process technology, and they did not have the fabs left over to ramp these products faster. Through new 90nm designs and taking advantage of 3rd party chipsets, Intel solved this issue. It's obvious to most of us who look at the data, rather than their own bias.
