You should call the brokerages and ask if they would want to sell you some of the turned in shares. People sell for losses or forfeit their shares for the loss to be recognized. The brokerages may retained millions of shares turned in depending on how bad it was! Doubt you will have any luck here.
Saw your post on CVST of which I own a 100k share position. Holding tight until they finish re-emerging. I appreciate the IRS guidance. I have not reviewed it but may look it over.
