Z-Trader, that was my immediate thought too. Anyways, there is an investigation of a Quantas 32 (sp?) that had to make an emergency landing in Singapore when an engine caught fire just after taking off and blew a hole in the wing damaging the hydrolichs. This giant plane landed safely because of the pilots.

Upon landing, the plane's leaking jet fuel and getting the passengers and themselves safely off the plane took an hour of the firemen successfully getting the engine shut down.

The co-pilot or engineer asked the pilot how he wanted to get people to safety and bottom line, the pilot said slides are too slow get the stairs.

Then their is an illustration of an all black picture except for infrared picture of a plane and its slides on that A330 and it shows an outline of a plane and 16 slides (really fast)...

But pilot clearly stated "stairs, they're faster". All were safely evacuated from the plane.

When I first asked if anyone remembered how long it was between when the security tape was put on and the last mini, I was trying to get a feel for how long it would be until something happens.

I was thinking either mini #8 or more likely a one-door slide deployment.

I have since been made aware that putting on security tape could also mean that the plane is in a ready state and could save time on pre-flight stuff if it is not broken when they go to fly it.

In any case, I looked back and found that LT first mentioned the security tape being put on by the FAA on Friday, June 24th. On Tuesday, the 28th, the mini took place.

That is four days from I learned about the security tape and something happening.

What is unknown is how long the tape was on before LT reported it and if it was the FAA or Baltia that put it on this time.
