It's three gensets actually, two smaller "backup" Cummins sets that will be uprated to "continuous duty" as a result of Coates CSRV and dual-fuel technology, plus an industrial set (arriving in November).

Cummins probably won't be placing "orders" for Coates gensets... they would likely be forming a deal with Coates to supply the CSRV technology to retrofit or outfit new Cummins gensets. Once Coates has demonstrated to everyone the comparison testing, if the margins of improvement are wide enough, it would be hard for Cummins to pass up the technological leap. But yes, I'm sure they will do their own testing. No, Cummins hasn't tested CSRV technology AFAIK.

Since Cummins is already making blocks, skids, rads etc for Coates, once Coates begins to sell them it will provide direct competition for Cummins, so it makes sense for Cummins to get an advantage with CSRV technology from as early on as possible. Why make parts for a company that will produce gensets that will hurt your own sales? The product lines could be targeted to different markets, or different pricepoints, sure, but the application of CSRV tech is so much wider than just gensets...

With Coates progress going in so many different directions, it's going to be fun to watch!

Regarding patents, George has his bases covered for current technology. The patent is the first thing you do, before you breathe a word to anybody about an advancement, or change, in the details of a design.

Who ever said Cummins had or has any interest in doing anything other than selling gen sets to Coates? There is nothing more to that relationship than Vendor- Customer and by the way Coates is the customer. They bought the gem sets from a local Cummins distributor
