But that does seem to be what is happening.

The person or persons with the convertible notes covered in note 9(latest 10-Q), have $778,500 invested in this. From a pure economic view some return has to be realized from this. If they have borrowed the money they have to cover the interest costs, if they use their own funds there are the opportunity costs.
Pick what ever interest rate you feel is appropriate, but there is a cost.

NB: My guess is they thought they would be able to sell the stock sooner.
