the article doesn't make sense on any number of levels.

apple's video editing stuff originated outside apple at companies that would probably have been smushed by the much bigger adobe. to argue that FCP killing Premiere is a Bad Thing is to argue apple users should put up with inferior software. at which point you would have to ask how long they'd remain apple customers at all. one good bit of software is far better than having to choose between 10 or 100 mediocre bits of software.

in comparison to other choices, premiere flat out sucks and deserves to die. except it will no doubt live on in PeeCee trailer park land where the expectations are just a tad lower.

Tom,

I choose to differ. Apple is not really squeezing third party developers. It is just bringing technology to a different level. If they can't or decline to compete, so be it. If Apple did not introduce FCP and having it Mac only, the entire video post production market would be PC by now. Macs in that market will always be less featured and less competitive. The same goes for all the iApps. If we didn't have those, macs will always be second class citizens in terms of apps.
