I can see that it is a good thing that the murderer confessed.

Any competent defense trail lawyer could beat the rap
if the wood analysis was the main evidence relied upon in that case that you cited.

For example, anyone could swipe the firewood from the defendants woodpile.

But a fascinating article.

The technique could be used to great advantage in forensics
and in paleo-anthropology.

I expect that we shall hear much more about it in the future.
