Okay, so a lab must confirm what the firefly sees. That's very interesting. Only that particular lab tool used will need to have the pathogens in their library for certification by the AOAC. The tool sounds very useful. However, if the pathogen is not registered on a database where the AOAC must certify before action can be taken in response to food recalls; then little can be done quickly. It may make the Firefly process too slow. But it can be rectified very easily if the MIT 1000 is combined with the Firefly. Micro Imaging Technologies, Inc, is working to place the MIT 1000 in every lab. The Firefly may just make us all a lot of money anyway if labs are not too booked or get behind in reporting as is the case in many labs today. Positive ID must have their own lab, in house. That can be adjusted.
