umbra...I agree with you....

If you study the geology of the area, then look at the seismic studies...then notice that the Niger River Basin as it fans out its fingers and empties into the Gulf...you can begin to see the implications of all the oil building debris that has been dumped in the region for millions of years.

Then if you realize that the only thing stopping these building blocks and allows them to pile up are the volcanic islands of STP....most of the islands are in the ocean, only the head of the "pimple" sticks up and represents the dry land area.

The faults are their, the sand traps are there...its all there!....I believe the formation is an extension of the AKPO region....and it gets bigger as you approach the outer regions of the volcanic basin of the Archipelago.
