CVX signed their contract in 2/05 and they were drilling less than a year later. They certainly had their issues following the PSC signing with EER switching hands/percentages and the overlap of block 1 with OPL 246 (OML 130). They still managed to drill in less than a years time. Had they drilled in the middle of the structure, they could have already added proven to their reserve levels.
Perhaps the rig availablitly tighted up in the past 16 months? I do know its tight. You're right, the oil isn't going anywhere.
I'm thinking (all IMHO) that 3 + years from now we're going to see a comprehensive reserve in all JDZ acreage. "Proven" will be spelled out - all in capital letters. I feel (and this is purely a subjective word at this point) that those, far wiser than we, will be comparing it to an area call Safaniyah.............times two.
