SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 27, 2006--
EWAN 1 Inc. (Pink Sheets:EWAN) today released the
contents of its President, Bruce Palmer's letter to shareholders:
Dear Shareholder:
Part of my job as your President is to make sure our shareholders
understand how quickly technology is changing, and how eWAN is taking
the lead in the critical next phase of how we receive television.
Soon, all TV will come to viewers through the Internet. This was said
by John Chambers, CEO of Cisco, who had closed on the purchase of
Scientific-Atlanta, a manufacturer of set-top boxes shortly before. A
few years ago, the Federal Communications Commission mandated that by
2006, all TV would be broadcast in digital format. Because the content
providers could not ramp up that quickly, that date has been postponed
until the end of next year. However, digital transmission has led to
digital reception and, although some viewers are enjoying their luxury
High Definition screens, most owners of Hi-Def screens are unaware
that what they are watching is really old-fashioned analog.
An article in a recent edition of Consumer Electronics magazine
(www.consumerelectronics.com) pointed out "HDTV's Dirty Little
Secret;" that around 80% of HDTV sets are not receiving HDTV
broadcasts because not much HDTV programming is available: of the
hundreds of channels available to most satellite and cable viewers,
only a few dozen are available in HD.
EWAN, however, through its proprietary and patented technology, is
capable of bringing its subscribers high definition quality right now
on any modern TV set, wherever they may be in the world -- via the
Internet. When EWAN begins broadcasting, later this year, our
subscribers will be able to choose only the channels they wish to pay
for. This is called "unbundling," a process our congress is now
attempting to persuade the various networks to adopt.
I would now like to introduce EWAN's Director of Technology, Craig
Erickson's comments with regard to where we are in our development,
and why our tech and sales teams are so excited about EWAN's future.
Craig says, "We have an excellent and experienced team of engineers
going through the last phases of tuning and development to create a
content delivery system that has not existed before. Most companies
are only considering what we view as less than desirable protection
technology and systems and we are finding that these other entities
are running into stiff resistance from content providers. Content
providers want to make certain that the content they deliver will not
be made available to the public at large. We are providing the most
secure methodology of content delivery. This sets us apart; but what
are our plans for this superior system?
Phase One
Phase one consists of the eWand package. The eWand pack contains the
unique SecureKey, which is a EWAN proprietary development, which no
other company in the world has, and the remote control, instructions
and the installation CD. This package will be supplied to all the
retail outlets in the 4th quarter of this year and will allow for
complete mobility of viewing content to match our motto 'Global TV,
anywhere, anytime.'
Phase Two
Phase two will begin with the introduction of our distinctive Triple
Play set-top box 30 to 45 days after the initial eWand introduction to
retail. The exclusive feature of this combination set top box and
eWand pairing is that the end user will have total mobility for their
viewing content when traveling. The set-top box has a specialized
version of the OS and software that runs the eWand and the user will
also be supplied with the system. The user will be able to remove the
SecureKey and take the remote with them, using the portable version of
our software for their traveling laptops, or TV wherever they may be.
The set top box, used in the home or office, also contains our EVO
hard-drive video recorder for time-shifted viewing, and is also
equipped with VOIP, for telephone connections globally.
Phase Three
We are considering several options; adding features to allow our end
users to auto-search for their own channels aside from the subscribed
channels that we are providing, and adding these to their custom
channel guide. Another is the ability to search for MP3 downloads and
to store them, as MP3 players, including Apple's iPod does. Two other
opportunities we have are with LCD-TV systems and the cell phone
industry."
Thank you, Craig.
I plan to keep our shareholders informed with regular updates on how
your company is progressing. We at EWAN are delighted with how far
we've come in such a short time, and how bright the future is for us
all.
Sincerely,
Bruce Palmer
President
