Leopard screenshots - dare we dream?

Wow. What a list.

Having Windows Explorer presumably would mean Windows WMP, which would get us access to big chunks of the internet from which we're now walled off.

Tabs in Finder ... awesome. Dual-boot Windows ... awesome. Desktop switching ... cool. Merge iCal and Addressbook ... about freakin' time (and while they're at it why not finish the job and merge those with Mail, and deliver a really useful cockpit UI -- there no excuse for having these functions divided out in separate apps).

Next step: get iCal/Addressbook merged with Mail, and deliver seamless integration with Outlook Server. That's a non-trivial obstacle to Mac adoption in environments where Outlook Server rules the roost ... which is most of the business world. In fact, in terms of creating lock-in to Microsoft, I would argue Outlook Server is even more important today than MS Office.

Leapord - Tabbed Finder - cool

Funny how such obvious stuff hits me by surprise sometimes. I use tabs in Firefox ALL the time, never thought about it for the Finder. Makes perfect sense.

Hopefully, they take care of some of the other lingering issues in the Finder - selcting order in different views, and my real pet-peeve - can't they automatically resize the columns to show as much info as possible for the window width? If I open a Finder window, and then make it wider, I need to go in and manually widen every column that I want to see. Even a bad algorithm to decide which one should be made wider would be better than doing nothing.

Didn't OS9 do this?
