Perhaps, you are right in that the mistake should have been caught earlier than five years ago (2010 filings have it correct). However, upon further thought, I've decided that skimming/proofing over the docs wasn't likely the issue. English being a second language was the more likely issue years ago and it got picked up and reposted continually.

Read the following that I'm quoting with permission from BigKahuna in my pm's. He's likely posted it somewhere on the board, but, no time to search:

"This is where it gets tricky. Menon earned his Ph.D from Kerala University while studying under Dr. Frei and working as a researcher (not research assistant) at Harvard. So, Dr. Menon earned his Ph.D. while at Harvard is true, but he earned his doctorate from Harvard is not. Funny how the difference between "while at" and "from" can have such a nuanced change in meaning that the difference won't be picked up by even fluent, like native ESL speakers. Such a small difference can cause $250 million in confusion."

To add to this, his entire tenure at Kerala was while mentored under Dr. Frei. I would not be surprised if Frei was one of the five on the dissertation committee. Prestigious committee members on Ph.D. committees is common enough though not the usual.

Thankfully, the error was corrected five years ago in the 2010 SEC filings.
