It surprises me how such a simple concept has to be explained to someone. - When someone prints and then sells counterfeit shares, who gets the money? - Once the shares are in circulation, they change from hand to hand, until someone discovers them. No one "sits" on any real money, except the counterfeiter. When a counterfeit share is discovered, the last owner "sits" on imaginary money. The company never got a penny.
