I agree with all of the points that you make. I don't really subscribe to the CAN SLIM investment methodology. There are many different investment systems that can work. I happen to think that what we do at VMC is much better than IBD!
On the other hand, I find IBD's Big Picture section very useful as it seems to provide a fairly reliable read on the market direction. The article that I included was Thursday's Big Picture section.
I also like IBD's industry rating section. It helps me find the industries to look at. I find the articles in IBD to be interesting as well. Finally, I like to know when one of my stocks hits one of the IBD lists. That usually tells me that it is going to go much higher than where I would get out from a fundamental point of view.
