The artificial liver support systems are either not effective enough or not easy enough to use or both. Generally the importance of systemic inflammation is widely underestimated by these manufacturers. Vital Therapies (VTL) has introduced its negative trial, which caused the 80% drop of their share price last week.
The market is huge and no therapy either.
