CS, Q2 is a seasonally slow quarter. It's not expected to earn any higher than Q1, and most of the time, it's smaller. So investors are not going to be disappointed if earnings come out at $0.16; rather, I think that would be excellent news. The second half of the year has some excellent prospects for growth, and considering seasonal strengths, Intel's business may be generously lifted. Then consider the very strong new product lines, such as Centrino and Manitoba. Consider some upside in Intel's flash business as well (it can't get much worse). Intel will also likely gain share vs AMD, which adds yet another dimension. Added all together, Intel's current prospects are better than they were 6 months ago. P/E ratios give earnings plenty of time to grow into them.

CS, re: Mutual funds have only 4% of funds today in cash according to Arther Levitt...

That can change in a heartbeat.

And 40% of mutual fund deposits are in money market funds. Still a lot of cash on the sidelines.

There are those who submit that high P/E ratios are a necessary artifact in a down market and economy poised for rebound. I agree with them.

Common,

I keep hearing this argument you refer to - that fact is
the market doesn't seem to care. As a matter of fact I have never seen the market care. Its about making money on a stock.
Not on principles. Put your money on the pony and let it run.

Common,
You say it's time for a reality check since INTC is trading at 47 times earnings. I say so what - what about the other companies that are trading at similar levels. So what. Either
don't invest in INTC or get on for the ride up and sell then.

Or ride it down which ever it may be. I just get so tired of
of hearing the same old dribble from folks like you.

Intc will not trade where you want it to. The Market will
determine where it goes - a good trader will know the market he/she is playing in and make money playing by the markets rule's not by some ratio-matic ideal. It never has and never will.
