Solar is a relatively small fraction in the energy sector.
The gov. of the US is in the business of collecting taxes. Taxes paid in by people who are employed. The gov sets the rules.
Nelson said 2 years ago that he "testified" before congress. The word testified was used instead of NEGOCIATED. Solar CEO's organized a meeting with lawmakers to determine when solar can take the next step.
We know 100% that the US gov will stop handing out 30% off coupons on Jan 1 2017. This will be decreased to 10%.
I speculate that that the 20% tax rebate will be offset by improved technology.
Imagine what would happen if Solar3D started manufacturing their 3D cell tomorrow. What would all the customers that signed up for solar yesterday think/say/do? I think they would call in, bitch 'n complain and ultimately cancel.
When "free government money" expires, then introduction of better solar panels will be necessary. The transition from 30% to 10% discounts will be seamless and help the industry mature.
Nelson is sitting between a nail and a hammer. He can't openly say "yes we have the cell!" for so many reasons. (I can't be bothered to name them.)
If he openly says "NO, fuhgeddaboudit!", then the cell is dead and we move on.
He's officially in limbo and will be until 2017. He publicly stated that it's a bonus. A BONUS ALL CEO's joining the S3D family should have, not just the first guys coming onboard.
As for now, not a single share is traded because of cell speculation. Good.
The company is cash flow positive. Cell or no cell. Good.
Bad? I'm not too crazy about JN's # of shares. I think there is too big of a discrepancy between him and Abe who has over 700K shares.
